How To Use
Before using your menstrual cup, you will need to sterilize it. Boil it for three minutes, fully submerged in the water. It will not be damaged. Subsequently boil the cup once a month when it suits you best.
Wash your hands thoroughly before removing or inserting your menstrual cup .
Hold the cup with one hand between your index finger and thumb, then press the cup and fold it to make a U.
With your other hand, spread apart your labia and insert the cup, aiming for the small of your back.
It is not necessary to insert the cup as far in as a tampon. Let the bottom sit just inside.
TO GET THE CUP OUT
Compress the cup and pull it out. If it is difficult to get it out you can try to get a grip higher up on the cup, compress and then pull. Then just wash it with water and PH neutral soap, and it is ready to use again!
More about the Cup
The menstrual cup is a very clever form of menstrual protection. It is a small cup, made of silicon approved for medical use, that collects your menstrual fluid instead of absorbing it like a tampon. This means that it has no negative effects and does not cause dryness, unlike the traditional forms of menstrual protection.
The cup can be used for up to 12 hours. After this, remove and empty it in the toilet or the shower and wash it with fragrance free, pH-neutral soap and water. It is then ready to use again.
Another great thing with a menstrual cup is that you can swim with it. It makes a tight seal, meaning menstrual fluid remains in the cup and water stays out. You do not need to empty it after bathing. It gives you freedom! Do what you want, when you want. Don't think about your period.
It is very kind to your wallet. You use it for several years and you only need one.
From an environmental point of view, this cup is a great invention. A woman uses an average of about 12,000 tampons and pads in her lifetime, or about FOUR menstrual cups. That makes a huge difference to the mountains of waste!
MonthlyCup, is the first menstrual cup to be manufactured in Sweden, which means good conditions for the workers across the board.
